Activism

We held our donation drive/signing event this past Sunday. It was a family owned Italian restaurant. We collected tons of donations prior to the event as well as during it. Although the restaurant was closed, the owner provided us with pizza for those attending. We had around fifty people who signed to help out or gave donations. During the time we spent there we had our display boards up with plenty of flyers and the DVD playing on four different televisions.

Reflection

Because the Animal Safehouse is a source for women seeking homes for pets in domestic violence situation, it more or less reaches out to families. For this reason we chose a family-oriented and owned restaurant. This was the best place because it was "symbolic of the issue" we were raising, as Seely claims is important (20).

Reciprocity

It was a successful event. We had so many donations, we filled up Ariel's car with boxes of them. I enjoyed it, and we all finally were able to get together and meet in one place with Ariel. She was also very excited about everything we were doing, which made me feel as though our efforts were appreciated.
