Activism
This week was not much success, I spent most of the time sending e-mails to my group members and trying to plan things. I was sick most of the week, but Monday plan to look around for venues for the signing party with Katelyn and Seabury. I was also asked to help decorate a display board.
Reflection
I already know how difficult these things can be, since volunteering takes time and does not pay bills or give passing grades. I hope that the coming week we will be able to work together more on things or at least get more done. I will most likely try to take on the task of creating the display board because I do not have much spare time for anything else. As Seely says, "we are confronted with the challenge of how to strike a balance between our desires and our social responsibilities" (15).
Reciprocity
This past week one of my cats died, and already being involved in animal rights I now feel more strongly the need to help the pets and women involved in these domestic problems. The worst part is that my cat was eight hours away with my parents and I had no control over it and I will not be able to see him again. I imagine the women might have similar feelings of helplessness with their own pets.
